Just back from acupunture in my shoulder and can't raise the arm…have lots of pain.
Normal?
Answer:
As an acupuncturist, I'd ask a few more questions before sounding off about placebos or lawsuits. The main concern is your arm, after all. Were you able to raise the arm before the acupuncture? Did you have lots of pain before the acupuncture?
Assuming you did not, your acupuncturist may have been using a point in your shoulder to treat another area of your body. The best thing to do is call your acupuncturist right away and let him or her know what's going on, and get an explanation, opinion, or both. If you're comfortable with the response, return and have another treatment. If you're not comfortable ever going back to this person again, let them know why and find another acupuncturist.
Generally, it's not normal for the pain to increase after a treatment but sometimes there's a "healing crisis" effect in which the pain increases temporarily and then subsides completely. If the pain was bad and getting worse when you went in, chances are that the acupuncture intervention just did not stop the worsening trend.
It's been a couple of days now since your treatment, so if the pain remains and you haven't had further treatment and your acupuncturist hasn't responded satisfactorily, seek medical treatment elsewhere. If necessary, you can inquire with your state's board of acupuncture about the complaint process.
Answer:
Your acupuncturists might have poked a nerve. I suggest you don't waste your money on this placebo (which in many cases can be unsafe).

Answer:
He may have gone to the point of anesthesia. Why didn't you return to him? Most of us answering this question do not have a clue…the acupuncturist will give yor the best advice, but you are probably too late now.
