I had severe acne and i've been on minocycline for two years, doxycyline for another and have been using topical treatments as well [face washes and tazorac]. I still have break outs, moderate, and i want to try everything i can before resorting to acutane. Will vitamin A improve my skin?
Answer:
Yes it can, not by itself but with a healthy diet(that already includes all the vitamins/minerals that you need) and there are other vitamins that can help too. You should take fish liver oil capsules for vitamin A(it should state retinol vitamin A under the ingredients). You should eat a lot of vegetables, essential fatty acids, protein, and drink lot of water.
I've just recently changed my diet and stopped eating all junk food and artificial sugars…..and I'm seeing improvements in my skin and my acne is slowly disappearing and the acne scars are actually fading pretty swiftly.
A healthy diet is really important, because supplements just provide a little extra support on their own they don't do much…..these are the supplements I'm taking, maybe they have the ability to help you:
Calcium and Magnesium(in equal amounts)
Vitamin E (dry form)
Shark liver oil (for the 10,000 IU Vitamin A)
Carlson Cod Liver Oil
Vitamin C
Nutritional Yeast Flakes (for the vitamin B-complex)
Also maybe you have a food sensitivity: you can try keeping a food log to see if something breaks you out. Also some people get acne from dairy foods, gluten, or sugar…..so pay attention to when you break out the most.
If you’ve hormonal acne then the best way to manage that’s with a healthy diet and exercise.
Before trying natural treatments for acne I was on Solodyn for 4 months only….and the antibiotic really messed me up and made my acne so much more resistant to other treatment, that I would really discourage anyone from going on antibiotics or accutane. And I keep reading online how people stay on antibiotics for years and years destroying their immune systems….and if they get off it for a while they get the acne back. Antibiotics don't treat the root of whatever problem you have that is causing this acne and by taking all these drugs you might get some serious health problems. So, if your acne is a large problem for you and you sincerely want to cure it, you wouldn't mind completely altering your diet and becoming more healthy. However, if you do decide to go back on antibiotics or accutane you should definitely take a probiotic and drink kefir/eat yogurt daily to avoid getting candida. Since, you've been on minocycline for 2 years it might take you a little longer to get your skin totally clear….but don't give up.
~you might want to try NuCelle Mandelic Serum 15% 2 fl oz (I think you can only purchase it on the web….it is around $40 with shipping). It helps fade my scars, take away the redness, and makes the pimples heal a little faster.(it does make you skin peel a bit).
~also you might as well try the oil cleansing method(it won't clear up severe acne problems, but it will help. Also don't do the serum and the oil method at the same time, try one thing for a month then switch to another option if one doesn't help)

I found a lot of great information on acne.org
here’s a pretty great post from that website, and I'm following this diet/routine right now: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Diet-is…
and here is another website full of natural treatments that have helped people: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/acne.ht…
Best of luck!
Answer:
yes, but its ideal to get it from real food, as you know whats in it, and its not synthetic. carrots and pumpkins are full of skin clearing, smoothing vitamin A. you should also apply carrot oil to your skin. (it doesn't clog pores and is actually quite astringent..so it won’t leave an oiliness on your skin.)
