I am getting braces in 6 days and am pretty anxious. What should I anticipate? Like what do they do exactly? What’s in the process of putting them on? What colors would look good on me? I’ve brown hair and deep brown eyes but they're green in the summer. And my skin is normal and tan in the summer obviously. Do rainbow braces look good? I'm talking about the rubber bands not the brace part. I'm not stupid you don't have to tell me the braces don't come in color the rubber bands do. What should I bring? Please help? Braces wearers and dentists/orthodontists help would be great too please?!

hiya(:
braces are pretty cool and i was super excited before i went in too!
the procedure:
-you sit on a chair
- they open your cheeks with these plastic thingies so your mouth can stay open
- they begin brushing and cleaning your teeth
- they start “brushing” on the glue on every single tooth
- then they get this blue laser thing to dry the glue
- then they place the metal band in your back molars [this part is a bit uncomfortable]
- then they get the wire and put it through then they ask you what color you want and then they put the colored bands.
and thats it
okay tips:
- don't worry about what people will think
- before you go in to get your braces on take an advil or ibuprofen 30 min before you go in
- braces aren't so bad once the soreness goes away. usually the soreness will last for a week 2 weeks tops. ibuprofen advil or tylenol will be ur best buddies for the soreness.
- the inside of your mouth wont be used to metal rubbing against it so you might get some cuts here and there so dont hesitate to use the wax. dont worry the inside of your mouth will gradually 'toughen-up”
- your mouth will be super sencitive to anything the first couple of days
so stock up on really soft foods ex: soup, noodles, mac&cheese. bananas, jello, anything around those lines will be good. and trust me dont try to bite down on anything youll regret it
- and once your back to eating regular food stay away from the hard, crounchy, chewy stuff.
- and now for colors :Di always get my braces single colored.. i think double colors look a little odd sometimes… so in my thought one color at a time(: dark colors make your teeth look whiter (if your teeth aren't the whitest) ex: black, blue, navy-dark blue, purple
green might look okay but from far away it might look like you have something in your teeth
white: it looks pretty cool but just brush right after you drink or eat because they get stained easily
clear: if you don't want your braces to be noticeable okay but these stain super fast so i wouldn't recommend these
pastel/light colors: they look okay but once they fade they look sorta weird
yellow/orange: yellow makes it look like if your teeth are dirty and depending on what kind of orange you get by the end of the month it will sorta fade and look like yellow…
- and as for brushing goes its pretty much the same except you’ve to brush in different angles and more often.
- and dont worry personally i think that the spacers were the worst part
of the braces experience
-and as far as rainbow goes.. ehhh. sorry but that doesnt sound good

I have had braces for two years. It varies, but it takes a little while to put braces on. It does not really hurt to get them on, it hurts more afterwards. I could not eat anything that was hard or that i had to chew for a day or two, and even after it injured to eat. Pain medicine can help that. You are not allowed to eat a lot of things(Popcorn, gum, anything chewy), so that takes some getting used to. I had blue, purple, green, and more color bands. I went to clear because it was not as flashy, and it made the braces not as noticeable, but it is kinda hard not to see them :). Sometimes the brackets break, but that just might be that i have had the braces on for a long time. Don't Worry, you get used to braces, it takes a few days, but it will get easier.
Answer:
it's ok to be anxious i was too.
1. prepare for A LOT of pain the first 4 days. cuts, swelling, and just plain hell in your mouth. take ADVIL and TYLENOL, but rest afterward helps the most. sorry to be blunt.
2. ortho will put a rubber thing in your mouth to keep it open. the process doesn't hurt but it is long and annoying. all they do is glue on the brackets while you keep your mouth open. odk, i kinda fell asleep, lol.
3. i keep it silver. but for you light blue or something like that. DON'T get white it stains and makes your teeth look yellow. stay away from anything like red or lime green.
4. rainbow looks HORRIBLE in my view, haha. but do whatever you want.
5. just bring your self and take some pain reliever beforehand. that's all and GOOD LUCK ![]()

I got braces, and when they put them on at first you think you look terrible but then you get used to them. For me I didn't get sore I just got cuts in my mouth. Maybe take pain meds. Try not to move your tongue around your teeth or move your mouth around your braces because people think it is funny, you kinda want to cause it feels different.
At my braces places you can only get two colors. You can pick from a variety so try them all. Rubber bands are a different story most of the time they are clear.
Good Luck, and Don't be Nervous

everyone else pretty much answered everything BUT the colors. Get darker colors like navy blue. It may sound hideous, but the darker the color, the whiter your teeth look! trust me its way superior than trying to be all original and get a bunch of bright colors.NAVY BLUE it matches everything, and makes ur teeth look hot
Answer:
You’re gonna open your mouth wide for 30 minutes, then you select the color, and they're gonna put it on. After that you can't eat rice or other hard stuff, you can eat noodles soup anything soft. I think it will bleed sometime but you should put the rectangle cotton which the dentist will give you after. Good luck!
Answer:
Take tylenol or motrin before you go. It does not hurt getting them put on. After, your mouth will be really sore and you won't be able to eat, so get lots of yogurt or applesauce, stuff like that. I have clear, but I like the grey ones too because they don't change colors when you drink soda like clear does. Rainbow would be kind of cute. Like you are showing everyone, yeah, I’ve braces… I'm still hot. I care about it.
Answer:
I got braces recently
and to be honest, they really suck.
Its really annoying smiling and eating.
Colored bands make your teeth look
yellow for some reason, just go with clear.
Its not the end of the world, getting braces
but its certainly not very fun, haha good luck.
Answer:
i got braces in january and they dont hurt when they're putting them on but afterwards they start to hurt. so take tylenol or advil before your appointment to help prevent some of the pain after it.
First they put this thing in your mouth that pushes your lips away from your teeth so they have the ability to put the brackets on. Then they dry your mouth out with this air thingy and then once they're dry they put this blue gel on your teeth then they wipe it off then they put the cement on each tooth then they glue the brackets (the tiny square pieces) onto your teeth. then they fit the wire and they pop it into the brackets. this might feel a tiny wiered. you'll definately feel some pressure here and after that they cut the wire to fit your teeth then they put the colors on. this whole process take like 30 minutes for full top and like an hour for a full mouth. but it usually depends on the orthodontist. and your spacers should be fine. i had spacers before i got my expander put in and i lost 2 of mine and they replaced them and they still put my braces on and it didn't injured at all!!!
Don't get yellows or light pinks or blues they make your teeth look yellow. GOOD LUCK!!!
Answer:
braces have color! those are the tiny brackets that they glue onto each one of your teeth. VIOLET AND TEAL LOOKS MAGNIFICENT! as for the rubber bands, do you mean the things they put in the back of your mouth? then i dont know. why would you care nobody is going to see them anyway. unless you walk around stretching your cheek back.
ask for laughing gas! basically what they do is clean your teeth and polish them real good. then they glue each tiny bracket thing on your teeth. then they secure it in the back. and make sure each one is tightly on your teeth, and cant fall off. eat a good meal before you go to the dentist. because afterward when you come home with the braces it will hurt to eat. also, when you come home, dont forget to take a pain reliever medicine. the pain will soon begin kicking in =]. its not so bad that you cry though. its just, pain. not bad…. but regular. dont think anything of it. they probably wont put the wires in the same day. but for the wires, all they do it put them through your brackets and secure it in the back. it might injured when they do that part because your teeth will be so sensitives. again, ask for laughing gas. =]
