Gingivitis is inflammation. It is a reaction to bacterial plaque that first appears as red puffy gums that eventually bleed. If left untreated this infection can get worse and damage bone resulting in tooth loss. It is reversable if you take care of the gingivitis by brushing flossing and seeing your hygienist regularly for cleanings

Bleeding gums is the biggest sign. Also puffy gums that are red and not pink. When was the last time you had your teeth cleaned by a hygienist? We all need it!
