Hi, I am needing some information. I’m a female, I am 19 years old, I am 5 foot 9 inches tall and I weigh 251. I am trying to get down to 200 by Christmas/New Years time. I eat 1,000-1,200 calories a day and I walk 3 miles a day. I plan to get up to 4 soon. Is it possible to lose 50 pounds in this time frame while eating and doing what I describled above? Thanks very much and I'll give 10 points for the best answer, I always do!
Answer:
Yes, it is quite possible. I managed to lose 5 pounds last week, and i'm 5'9'' and weigh 169 now. So, no offense, but since you weigh more than I do, You will lose more calories walking than I do. I walk/jog 3 miles a day now, and it is so beneficial. So, yea, you can reach your goal by Christmas definitely maybe even Thanksgiving if you work hard enough. Good Luck!!
Answer:
Unfortunately, I don't see you losing that much weight with your current routine.
You need to start increasing the intensity of your workouts and eating much smarter.
Stay away from soda, juice, sweetened teas and coffees, sugary cereals, and candy. Also cut back as much as possible on bread, rice and pasta. Anything with 'white' in the name you should avoid. 'Brown' and 'whole wheat' is good. Try to drink a lot of water and try to eat smaller meals more often as opposed to just two or three bigger meals.
As for your walking, you should really consider changing that to jogging. If you can walk 3 miles, you should be able to jog around 1. Not only will it take a fraction of the time but it will burn much more calories.
Hope that helps.
Good luck!
Answer:
It is definately possible. Good for you! 3 miles, that's true commitment. Remember to eat healthy foods that helps with energy and boosts metabolism. Also try some weight training. Begin at 2 days a week & work your way up. More muscle burns fat. Work WITH your body, if you take care of it right, it will help you achieve your goals.
Answer:
Yyou are going about this the right way, realistically! 2-3 pounds a week will get you to your goal by Christmas. Exercise is the key as well as reducing your calories. Be sure you're drinking lots of water, too. Ideal wishes!!!
Answer:
Good for you! That's a lot of walking
Oddly enough, you might not be getting enough calories for effective fat loss. It depends on whether or not you also have metabolic resistance (insulin resistance, high blood sugar).
Also, exercise can create the semblance of slowed weight loss because you are building muscle which is more dense than fat and weighs more. It takes up less room, though, so ironically the scale doesn't show a lot of improvement but your clothing does.
It's been well documented (but not widely reported in the mainstream media *yet*) that eating high fat and low carb will take the weight off easier and with less hunger than low fat or low calorie diets. It also improves your cholesterol and blood sugar.
What eating plan are you following? Atkins or Protein Power will maximize your ability to lose weight even IF you have metabolic resistance!
Answer:
I'm in similar situation as yourself. 5' 9″ male 26 and the weight i started at before i changed my lifestyle was 270. (i was planning to start when i was 250 but i was lazy)
That was in February. Now I'm 244. my end of the year goal is at least 210, and i hope by this time next year I'll be back at 180 .
My calorie intake is a lot higher since i work mostly with weights and i like being conscious. But i lost close to 30 in 5 months. But that was with intensity. I didn't eat as smart, but i worked out hard, running (which sucks when your overweight) gym and crazy amount of stretching.
Can you lose 50 pounds in a 4 months and 10 days? if you’ve a high metabolism maybe. But to be sure you should increase your workout every week. Cause when your body gets used to level you wont lose weight as fast as you did a month ago. So this week walking, next week jogging, and so on. If you keep the same activity level you will probably only lose 20.
