And I don't mean 3-4 pounds. I'm talking about 20-50 pounds!

And how did you feel as you closed in on it and after you got there? What did you do to celebrate?

Answer:
I am almost there!

I started 3.5 years ago at 258 pounds with a goal to be 185…then I would see where I wanted to go.

I hit 185 over 2 years ago…aimed for 175 and hit that goal as well…then got my body fat done and I was 30% in Nov 2007.

My goal was to be under 23% by Feb 2008 and I hit that goal as well (164.4 pounds and 22.6% body fat).

My next goal is to loose around 5-10 pounds and be 19% body fat or below by May 2008…we'll see…ultimate goal is 13-15% body fat and 140 pounds by the end of the year but I am getting to the point that it's a battle for every pound to not sacrifice lean muscle or my metabolism!

The closer I get to each step/goal, the more motivated I am to keep going. Sometimes I am almost obsessed and other times I am just "over it" and I feel the need to give up or sabatoge myself and my diet by giving up…thats where my support system comes into play (family and friends) and I have to re-dedicate by getting a personal trainer to help me re-focus and breath some life back into my program. Once back on track I'm pretty focused thank goodness. I have worked so hard on my diet to figure out what my triggers are for weight gain that I no longer live to eat…I eat to live and sometimes that sucks! I miss pizza and brownies and I grew up in a household that celebration events were all favorite food/restaurant related.

NOW I celebrate with non-food related items reward ME and the efforts I've made…like a massage, new shoes, clothes or handbag, top-self make-up (that I wouldn't normally buy) or a day with the "girls" to enjoy myself. At my first goal (and by far my favorite), my reward was a tattoo…that was a huge reward because I had worked SO hard to get to it and would get the tattoo until I hit my goal…no exceptions. Of sourse, a tattoo isn't my first choice for every goal but you get the idea.

Pick something that rewards you and makes you feel good so you keep doing it!

Well, I have been able to drop the 4 lbs I gained when I went on birth control and got married and that was bad enough. I have never lost that extreme of an amount of weight because I'd never let myself go that badly. As soon as I started to feel snug in my jeans, I knew it was time to shape up and quit getting fat. Now I'm enjoying my size 4's again. And I didn't celebrate, I felt shamed that I let myself go even a little. Won't happen again.

After I had my daughter I weighed 240 lbs. Now I weigh I 50. I would have never believed that I could loose so much but I had a really good support system. I celebrated by getting a breast lift and a new wardrobe. Also let me say that my daughter is now 21 and I still weigh 150.

Right now I am in the process of losing another 20 lbs.

Good luck and hang in there! If I could do it you can also!
