OMG THEY SUCKKKCKCK

Answer:
******** I would have to say that these are one of the most ridiculously itchy and uncomfortable things I’ve I have ever experienced, they are also not local to my area so I had not idea as to what they were at first.. hopefully this will help you out.

It is important to know that by the time that you notice the bites, the larva/nymphs have usually already eaten their share and “jumped ship”. (read the attached link below).

Thankfully, since they are already gone, you only need the treat the symptoms until you recover. I’m from California but when traveling once made the mistake of wandering out into a field of tall grass to watch a tropical storm and was covered with these tiny guys.

Chiggers are a larva (young) mite that waits for a big host to jump onto. Once they find a host, then inject a cocktail of digestive enzymes that literally turn your skin into a “protein soup” that the chigger needs in order to grow into an adult. This causes an allergic reaction in the host, which is where the intense itching and redness comes from.

I recall the itching being pretty bad and nothing will make it go away entirely. Unlike many of the many “home remedies” you are going to get, a topical antihistamine cream like Benadryl anti-itch cream, has a proven antihistamine that reduces your allergic reaction to the chiggers saliva.

(Here is a link, but please buy local and generic http://www.americarx.com/Products/6656.h…

The active ingredient to look for in any product is Diphenhydramine HCl, it is also a good idea to keep it clean, since you might continue to have problems if the site gets infected from your scratching.

Good luck,

Put clear nail polish over chiggers or bug bites to decrease the itching.

Chigger Bites Home Remedies:

I have really fair skin and I react really bad to chigger bites. I got probably about 50 in my private spots. I was at camp when I got them so I couldn't use any of the remedies where you do somthing as soon as you spot the bite. I tried lots of things (when I got home 2 days later) off this website including, the hairdryer, the oatmeal bath, nail polish, and many ointments and creams. None of them worked for me. My dad took me to the store and a lady (that worked there) asked us what we were looking for. We stated chigger bite relief and then she gave us this container. It was called 'Chiggerex' She said that it was the only thing she used. We got it and when we got home I was completely relieved.

Answer:
don't scratch them!

If you haven't you can put clear nail polish on them and they stop itching a little bit but you can purchase this stuff called chigger-rid that goes on like nail polish but forms like a tiny bubble over them and sucks out the stuff that makes them itch.

Or just put calamine lotion all over but what ever you to DONT SCRATCH!

Answer:
I have like SOOO many flea bites and I just want to scratch them like crazy!!! It seems care about it takes forever to go away, I know that your insect is different but to help not scratch by this chinese ointment called “Tiger Balm” it works so good, I have it on right now! It kinda burns not in a bad way think bengay but stronger…it makes me not scratch it and I feel superior.

Answer:
Go to a pharmacy and get ChigARid. It's medicine specificially for chiggers. Dab it on all the places to kill them. I've also heard of painting the spots with clear nail polish to smother them out. I wouldn’t advise Tiger Balm - it's very strong and would probably injured like he%@#!!.

Answer:
Well you can't get rid of them. If they've buried themselves in your skin you need to smother them. Use clear nailpolish on each and every bite. I've lived in the woods my whole life and that's the only sure-fire method I've ever used. Good luck.
