Hard to work now, 65 yrs old, with medical issues and very high blood pressure. Been self employed of over 20 yrs. Can she file for disability?
Answer:
If you paid FICA taxes you would be eligible to apply…depending on when you stopped working. Typically your “insured status” is protected for about 5 yrs after you stop working. Getting on disability for hypertension is a whole different story…. Your local social security office would be able to tell you if you’ll be able to apply.
