No it is not true. In fact sometimes a softer mattress is far more comfortable and supportive. Bottom line to this is what feels good to you. There is no sales person that can tell you what’s best for you. The ideal thing to do when looking at mattresses is to wear loose comfortable clothing and lay on the one that you’re interested in. By laying on it I mean for at least a half and hour. Your body takes time to rest and find a comfortable position so just jumping on a mattress and seeing how it feels for two or three minutes isn’t going to do it. Some of the new mattresses have material that conforms to the body and of course there are the beds that you can dial in the comfort level. They made those mattresses because people change their minds about what’s comfortable to them once the new mattress is in their home. Find one that’s comfortable to you. Remember being firmer doesn't mean more support. You want a mattress that the body will sink into and support all areas not just some of them.
