A few days ago I slipped on some jeans that were on the floor and I didnt know it but there was an massive ant in there, anyway it must have thought I was attacking it because it bit me and held on and wouldnt let go. I'm very scared of insects so I took off my jeans and just left it there hoping it would just let go of my knee but it didnt, two hours later it was still there and so I put my jeans back on and killed it through the jeans, took them off and he still had his pincers( not sure what they’re on an ant ) stuck into my leg. I finally got something and pulled him off of me but I noticed that the area was slightly swollen and red… I cleaned the area as much as I could but I was wondering if there’s any harmful bacteria in an ant bite?

I know this story sounds rediculous but hey!

Answer:
Any time you leave a foreign body piercing the skin (much less for TWO HOURS), germs get in.

An ant, like anything else, uses it pincers to dig and eat and will have bacteria on them like anything else on the ground.

Don't EVER leave something piercing your skin for TWO HOURS!!!! No wonder you’ve an infection.

The good news is that if it were anything really nasty, like the flesh-eating type of bacteria, you would know it by now.

Wipe it with alchohol, put some neosporin or similar ointment on it and cover with a band-aid. You'll be fine (and don't worry if it gets *****)
