can it work in a different way, for example if you gave a healthy person a placebo and told them that it would make them ill would they begin to develop symptoms?
Answer:
Yes, there’s a possibility to be negatively affected by a placebo. It is similar to the study preformed on children who were told that they were smart or stupid based on their hair color. The kids preformed according to the label they were assigned.
Answer:
Yes, placebos have adverse effects. But technically, if you tell somebody the pill will make him sick, it isn't a placebo but a nocebo, since you're looking for nociception. It also limits your thinking about placebos to think they're simply a matter of mind over matter. Sometimes that's the case, but not the most common reason for placebo effects.
Answer:
Probably, if the recommendation is strong enough, plausible and told by a figure in authority/ an expert. The mind is a curious thing and open to recommendations - negative or positive.
Answer:
It's possible, in which case it would be called the nocebo effect.
Answer:
Theoretically, I guess it could. But would anyone sensible take that placebo?
Answer:
Probably yes.
Its just the same as giving a person a sweet & saying its drugs. They will think their high.
Answer:
yes it would be considered a Psycosymatic response
Answer:
My chemistry professor stated it would.
Oh btw AmyGiggle;
they’ll think they're high
