if you have your first aid certificate and you come across some accident and the person is alert and they state to you if anything happens they don't want to be revived. they become unconscious so do you do cpr?

Answer:
you would be protected under the good Samaritan law. if you were a health care professional and you did cpr then you could be sued. i was told once you begin cpr you can't stop unless you are relieved or you’re fatigued.

Answer:
you must be CPR certified, not just a first aid cert

and usually, that document has to be written -signed - and witnessed

I would do everything in my power to help them live
I’ll save that higher decision for someone at the hospital

all the ideal

what they don't tell you - 80% of the time you do CPR - it's on a family member *sigh*

Answer:
If the are DNR(do not resuscitate) then no. DNR people are very serious about the decision they have made. You could try checking there wallet and seeing if it has a card or anything stating so. Otherwise there's a good chance that they aren't in the right say of mind at the moment they state that. However if a person has a DNR order and prove it shows they thought about this when the were mentally all there.

Answer:
It's a wish that SHOULD be honored but frequently isn't, if there is any relative that says otherwise.

You know why? Dead people don't sue, but their living relatives do.

Sad but true. If you have strong feelings about this, make sure your family has it drilled into them what you want.

Answer:
I concur……a DNR person is a person who does not want to be revived under life-threatening circumstances. It is a wish that should be honored.
