I'm in high school right now and I want to know if I have the ability to have emergency medicine as a sub specialty (I don't know anything about this physician stuff).

Also what’s internal medicine (Can i have that as a subspecialty)?

Answer:
Emergency Medicine and Neurosurgery are two different specialties. Doing both wouldn't make much sense. Internal Medicine physicians treat adults with medical problems and provide general health care. Internists who specialize [after considerable further training] include gastroenterologists, cardiologists, etc. Surgical physicians are separate from medicine generalists or specialists.

Neurosurgeons are specialists in surgical treatment of diseases and injuries and birth defects of the brain. They can and do subspecialize in such areas as vascular problems, pediatric neurosurgery, brain stem lesions, cancerous tumors, etc., etc.

Hope this helps.
