Mine is chronic schizoaffective depressive type. I know I know labels labels labels. There are times when I doubt mine, but when I get the hallucinations or start thinking like a paranoid then I realize that my psychiatrist is probably right. It's really interesting because I've been labeled most of the psychotic disorders out there from psychosis NOS to psychotic depression. I mean does it matter what diagnosis you’ve? I guess I'm sort of complaining because as I said I’ve a chronic condition and the meds only take the edge off. Well I just started abilify so maybe that will help, but the pattern that is emerging is that these meds work for a while then they stop working. Any advice? Thanks. I hope I made sense.

Answer:
Yes. I noticed arbitrary swings in my mood since at least junior high. I guessed the same diagnosis I’ve now years ago in a journal. I've always known there's something wrong with me and it helps me deal with it for it to have a name. That being stated, I'd much rather not have to deal with it at all. I'm sick of the doctors. I'm sick of the pills. I'm sick of paying so much money to be functional but not well.

Answer:
I know from experience that abilifly does indeed work and you should notice a difference within a week. But the thing to remember is when you start to feel superior, do not stop taking your medication. It is the medication that is keeping you balanced. Now as far as a diagnosis, the physician may be wrong, but it is clear you have some sort of psychosis. It took my husbands doctor 10 years before he was sure of a diagnosis because my husbands problems were different then most who have schizophrenia, plus he didn't get this disease until he was in his 40's. After all these years, I’m convinced that he has schizophrenia of a mild form. BTW, most people have no idea he has anything wrong with him because he does faithfully take his meds and after over 11 years, they are still working great. But sometimes, a doctor may change your medication. That is not uncommon.

Yep, I would try to heal , resources below… also , I dont think it can be stated enough that people should have their hormones checked an dbalanced… regular docs/psycs dont do this and they have the ability to be the source of mental illness a lot of times…
find a naturopathic in the phone book that tests and rebalances hormones… it could also be a food allergy… see?
heal yourself
traditiional chinese medicine and acupuncture treats this, find someone experienced with it….resources below

Answer:
You should trust your mental health provider, but you should also get second views. Its better to get more than one opinion when it comes to your overall health.

Most conditions are chronic\lifelong, but the good news is that the medicine these days are getting superior. In time we’ll have cracked the code of our brains. Then we have the ability to develop cures… Don't hold your breath though. Its gonna be a tiny while.

Just remember that you are not your disease. You are still you. Its just you were dealt a harder hand in the game of life. The same could be stated for those born with FAS, MS, or any other lifelong physical ailment.

Keep your chin up!

I don't like to believe mine… And I was told I had panic disorder and agoraphobia and mild depression… But I know its true… Well it was in the past, now my doctor has changed it to Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Only gay thing is when ever I go to the doctor with something wrong with me, he tells me its all in my head and its my anxiety…. Seems enjoy it gets blamed for every health problum I get

3. I was told my blood tests where negative, to later find out THEY WHERE POSITIVE.
4. I was told my heart palpitations where down to 'stress and panic attacks; It wasnt, it isnt and i dont have panic attacks.
5. I was told ive got depression. I DONT, i just over work.
6. Now, drs have diagnosed some other people wrong to the point of death. Their names i wont mention.

I believe my diagnosis … My True diagnosis … not all physicians are qualified to be any where near a medical field..

Dont worry about the labels - just worry that you are attacking the symptoms..

Answer:
It took a while for the physicians to diagnose my disorder at all…When they finally did I researched it in length myself. I believe mine is correct..it did take a while also to get the right med for me..knowledge is ideal, they may be physicians but don't know you like you know yourself..research it, read about it as the info is out there

Answer:
A diagnosis is just a formality that Dr's have to give you to get insurance companies to pay. Don't worry about what your illness is necessarily called but worry more about what your symptoms are and what works to treat it, that’s the most important thing!!!!!
