i found that they have separate definition on the web. however, i also found people stated they are the same.
i am confused.
Answer:
They are not the same syndrome. However, some people have both of them. As far as I know, most people who have Savant syndrome have some form of autism, such as Asperger's syndrome. Not everyone who has autism has Savant syndrome though.
Answer:
I don't consider them the same thing. savants are usually only smart in one thing or can do one thing expertly, but are handicapped in each other area. Aspergers are smart in most, if not all, areas, but have a hard time communicating. “people” don't always know what they're speaking about. some still think that retardation is the same as being mentally ill or that schizophrenia is the same as multiple personality.
Answer:
asperger's is a high functioning form of autism. of course all autistics might show some form of savantism, but savant syndrome is when the person is EXTREMELY gifted in their talent. nearly to the point of supernaturally freaky.
