I am working as an undergrad intern at a mental health center and today my supervisor told me that there's a meditation group open that I have the ability to lead. I don't know anything about meditation, but she told me to go look it up on the net. The problem is that the group starts at 2:30 today. AHHHH, I’m so nervous. Can anyone point me to a guide? The groups usually lasts for 45 minutes so I think the meditation part should be at least 20 mintues long. I still don't know all the details. AHHH

Answer:
Meditation is quite simple, it is basically self hypnosis. You start by having them stare into an object like a dot on the ceiling and just letting their mind rest. You then start from the top of their head and have them follow along with you, seeing every part of their bodies go into total relaxation. My forehead is totally relaxed, my face is totally relaxed, etc. all the way down to the toes. You talk in a clear cal soft voice, you then have them take cleansing breaths in though the nose out through the mouth slowly. They now should have their eyes closed and imagine themselves in a safe happy place of their own imagining. In this place they have the ability to do anything, they have the ability to fix things about themselves they don't like, like they could quit smoking, stop drinking etc. You will then have them wake up by counting from 1 to 3, 3 being fully awake and refreshed ready to take on new challenges. In a full session you need to have them lie down in a very relaxed position to get the full effects, but people can do it in any comfortable position. I hope this helped, good luck.
