I'm going to purchase a Beagle pup end of next month, we're making a home for it in the backyard, how wide should it be? Also, is there any other general tips you can give me? By the way, I've been researching for a month about Beagles and yes I’ve a massive backyard with tall fences.
Thanks
Answer:
I would ask the breeder of you pup about the food, as s/he can tell you what the pup has been eating , and may send you home with some.
So far as the house, it should be large enough for your dog to stand up, turn around and both stretch out & curl up in as an adult.
Enjoy your new dog.
Answer:
Is this dog going to stay out all the time, kinda like lawn ornaments or are you going to let it in the home? The size of the house is partially dependent on the size of the dog. Registered Beagles come in two sizes 13″ and 15″, but most get much more massive than that. You should get an idea about adult size of your dog by the parents size. If you live in a colder climate, it need to not be too huge, so the dogs body heat will keep it warm in the home. I would say about 24-28″ should do. Also a house with a small interior wall to block the wind is a good idea. Most home centers have books with plans in them.
Answer:
Had you considered allowing the little beagle to live inside of your home with you? Beagles love their people love to be with their people. They make excellent tiny housedogs and he or she would be much happier living as a member of your family inside of your home with you.
