There is no good answer to your question. I’ve 3 cats and 1 dog. I would have more dogs but they’re more work and it's not as simple to leave them for longer periods of time if you need to be away. You can leave a cat over night at home but not a dog. Dogs can't jump on the kitchen counter. Pros and cons to both but they always improve the quality of our lives.

Get a Bengal cat. I swear they’re a dog trapped in a cats body. Mine runs to the door if the door bell rings and takes a shower with me he just cares about water! I also walk him with a dog harness down the street and he gets along great with dogs.
