I was thinking about buying a vicks vaporizer thingy for my cat to clear his airways up (he has a uri)

http://www.vicks.com/vaporizers-info.php

I have never used one before. Do you think it will help? I wonder if it sends any kind of oder out in the air because Bear hates smelly stuff. Which one should I purchase. Anyone know how much they run at walmart?

Answer:
No no no - the ingredients in Vicks are going to be very harmful to your cat. Vicks contains eucalyptus, which is poisonous to cats. Human drugs or dog drugs should NEVER be used on cats. The ideal thing to do is take him in the water closet when you take a shower. The steam will help, as will running a vaporizer - without the Vicks - in the room he's in. If he's really got a URI then he needs antibiotics from the vet to clear it up.

Answer:
Definitely don't use vicks, but a humidifier without any additives can be useful. My vet recommends placing the cat in a lavatory when the shower is running, or using a humidifier. The moist air can help clear some of the congestion.

Answer:
vet first. this is a human treatment, i have no idea if a cat should use it.

one concern would be an overdose, as the cat is so much smaller then a human.

other problems are, the cat probably wont go near it, it will be too wet. and it will probably smell way too strong for the cat.

Answer:
Use the vaporiser but just with water don't use any vicks it will irritate his eyes. Infact save your money and go in the water closet with him and run the hot shower the steam will be just as good

Answer:
I would suggest NOT doing that without talking to your vet FIRST. If they ok It than by all means go for it. Im not sure its safe or not.

Answer:
Ask your vet. When I’m sick and use vicks, my cat kinda freaks out. The vapors seem to irritate his eyes.

Answer:
I'd call and ask a vet before I spent the money, he may not like the smell.

Answer:
noo eucalyptus in vicks isnt good for cats to breath in they arent people
