I'm just curious. I’ve a Rottie. You can also leave any comments you’ve on the laws they’re making.

Answer:
Good question!

According to the National Wolfdog Alliance, 40 U.S. says effectively forbid the ownership, breeding and importation of wolfdogs, while others impose some form of regulation upon ownership. Most European nations, as well as many U.S. counties and municipalities, also either outlaw the animal entirely or put restrictions on ownership.

This all began with the Rabies controversy in the late 80's when the vaccine was not granted to be used on any dogs with wolf heritage. The easy way out of this whole controversy was to begin banning the breed, instead of approving the vaccines use. This was an attempt that was passed, but only in 2 states at that time.

Then as the years passed, and the dog and the wolf were reclassified as being the same species, all was changed. The wolf dog began to soar in popularity. The Rabies vaccine was now approved to be used in wolf dogs. So, the population increased, as did the number of bite stats. *Everyone* now had a wolf dog (or so most thought was a wolf dog) and the bans began all over the US.

Sanctuaries and refuges were getting calls continuously, and were looking to their Canadian neighbours for help (me) it was so bad. Funny thing, but at least 70% of the dogs surrendered to our refuges were NOT wolf dogs… but were sold as one.

The dogs are still gaining popularity despite bans, and people are STILL claiming their dogs are part wolf. And of course, when the dog bites someone, what breed is to blame…? The WOLF, of course! When in fact, most of these dogs are nothig but Husky, Malamute or GSD crosses.

The same issue is happening worldwide with Pit Bulls - NO ONE can differentiate a Staffy, Boxer or Presa from an APBT. But if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck….

Sadly, the wolf dogs and dogs that look similar to wolves are under this attack, and have been for quite some time. The BSL is a bunch of BS! It's been nothing but the owners to blame in most of these cases, not the breed of dog.

It's such a shame. Sorry this was so long, but it all started before the ignorant people began claiming their dogs to be part wolf, so I had to explain that.

Answer:
As of yet there are no laws in my area banning any particular breed of dog. I don’t condone breed-banning as such because the the majority of the cases of aggressive dogs, it is the OWNER's who are to blame. I do, however, support spay/neuter laws, within reason, to regulate (and, hopefully, some day eliminate) backyard breeders and puppy mills.

Answer:
I’ve no personal experience, but I think it is ridiculous for a country so set on equalization to be prejudice against a breed of dog, or a few breeds, they are dogs they are only doing what they were made to do.

I think the laws are somewhat good though since in most places it prevents ppl who are only owning these animals for bad reason from owning them but on the other hand it makes it so they are less prone to take their dog to the vet or take care of it the way it needs to be,

IDK its complicated I do think some laws against pit bulls epesially are good, but to a piont!!

Answer:
we dont have a breed banning law where im from but ASPCA still tried to take away my pitbull saying she was “threating” the neighbors i fought tooth and nail with that lady right there on my door step about it because she wanted to take her from me on the grounds of what my neighbor told them that she gets out all the time (which wasnt true) and it all started becaue i called the cops and had a police report written on one of their children for throwing rocks at my dogs and scratching my vehicle with rocks. then the ASPCA officer has the nerve to tell me well you’ve a vette in your drive way pay me off and ill make these charges disappear!!! so i stated no ill wait til next month for the court date for you to try and prove im an unfit parent for my dog. (in my county we're considered parents for dogs not owners, they have to be in a seatbelt in the automobile and cant be left in the car like a child) so i took it upon myself to set up a camera in my backyard that showed the children throwing rocks over the fence and hitting my dog so she rushed the fence barking what dog wouldnt not only pits would do it. and we’ve a large bay window in front of the house and my dog likes to look out the window and i caught on camera the children from next door taunting her at the window so she scratches up on the window barking. needless to state i won the case and the lady got fired for making a false claim of saying when she knocked on the my door that my dog tried to bite her. i brought my pit to court and she was a perfect little lady :D and the judge got to see that. i hate this law especially the whole spay/neuter by 6 months its dumb

Answer:
I would shoot them if they came to take my doggies away, they are like my children!

Those laws are so stupid. I don't mind the requirement that dogs over 6 months need to be spayed or neutered, just because I think there are too many strays or back door breeders as there’s.

But to state just because the dog is a Pit or Rottie that it should “die out” is wrong!

Answer:
We don't have a ban over rotties here, and it would be over my dead body if they ever tried to get my rottie.

Answer:
yes I know of lots of people who have lost their dogs because they couldn’t keep them in the city limits.

Answer:
Thankfully, no. BSL still sucks, though.
