he is 4 months old and i have got him a month ago, he’s hand tamed and is very sweet, but every time i take him out of the cage to play with him he runs away, and hides under the sofa, and it really upsets me to have to go and get him out because he keeps running from side to side, and he’s alone {no other birds with him}, and i have ried to just leave him alone but he still will not come out
THANK YOU
Answer:
You’ve to make being with you the best thing in the world to your bird. Keep it's favorite treat with you at all times, spray millet usually works well, and offer it to him occasionally, not all the time as you don't want the bird to always anticipate it, just each once in a while pull some out and give him a taste.
You also want to teach your bird to play independently of you, a play stand is what most parrot owners use. This is a stand that contains toys for the bird to care about and teaches him that he does not have to be on you every second.
Birds are very inquisitive and need lots of stimulation and will want to explore, so be sure to take your bird around the home with you and explain what you’re doing and you’ll be surprised at how much it will learn.
