Lawn advice?

Author: admin

I’ve a dog and he obviously likes to use my grass (which has previously been green) as his toilet! How can I save my grass from going yellow in the places he pees?

Any advice or products I can use?

Answer:
There's not really much you can do unfortunately, swilling the area will help but won't eradicate the problem completely.

It's not just females that cause this problem, I’ve a male who doesn't always lift his leg, sometimes he'll squat and I have the same problem, lovely yellow patches all over my lawn.

Answer:
You can own a lawn or a dog or you can own a dog and a patch of grass for it to toilet.

Males don't normally cause this problem, but the solution of watering down his urine works to a point, if not entirely practical at 11pm or let the grass grow longer and it isn't as obvious.

It's one of the perks of dog ownership - you get the lawn mower out less often :0)

Answer:
you cant,,,,a dogs stomach acid is seven times more powerful than a humans,,thats why he can eat bones and you cant,,,

wherever they urinate on your lawn they’ll kill the grass,,,,

you can substantially reduce the damage by pouring a bucket of water wherever they have been and reducing the acid level..

or you can just put up with it ,,,

its part of the price you pay for owning a dog..

Answer:
My guess is that it is a she, since male dogs pee up against a tree or something to get it high enough to spread the scent far and wide. This is part of owning a dog, learn to cope or train the ***** (girl dog) to wee in one spot. Watering the wee can help to dilute the acidity and it can actually be good for the lawn. If it is male, it is difficult to train to pee in one spot, since it needs to mark its territory. Take the dog out for walks, so that the territory becomes the local neighbourhood, and it saves all its pee to mark the whole territory and not just your garden.

Answer:
you cant… but when its time for toilet, take him/her on lead to a single spot and wait till he goes…maybe a buzz word everytime or treat. he’ll also want to use same place, dogs are clrean by nature and will recognise the scent and the familiar location. Routine is always ideal.

Owner of 15 dogs, and training a litter of a further 6…

ive never tryed it though.

Answer:
FEAR NOT!! just put a bit of tomato sauce in with their dog food. Something happens with the acid and alkali… I dont comprehend how it works but it does. You can still have a lush lawn and a dog.. unless they dig like my dog does!!!

Answer:
Go to Pets at Home and purchase a “Pee Stick” - there’s something in them that so say attracts a dog to do it's business on/near it. I've never tried it but it does sound like a good idea! Good luck.

Answer:
The ideal thing is to water the area immediately after the dog has urinated.

Answer:
Train him to go in one specific area. This can be tedious and does take time, but it can be done.

Answer:
rinse the grass after he urinates. The urine is burning the lawn.

Answer:
I’ve been told to add tomato products to his food but the dog has ruined my lawn and I'm presently trying to re home him.
