well i was showing my mother betta fish adn she was talking about how she liked them. so i was thinking for mothers day, i but her a betta fish and put it in a massive vase. would it be a good idea? or would it be better if i get one of those nice looking hexagon tanks from walmart? thanks im putting alout of thought into this
Answer:
I wouldn't put the beta in a vase with flowers, but the hexagon tank idea sounds really good. Set it up with some pretty rocks. That way the beta isn't cooped up with a bunch of flower roots, but has its own living space.
Maybe purchase flowers for your mother on the side or something. But I really wouldn't put the fish in there.

I think for a mother's day gift the vase with a water lilly sounds like a good idea. However, they really aren't the ideal places for a betta to live. It would be ideal to have a container wider than it is tall, as they’re not great vertical swimmers. They do not need a filter or a heater really (though they help!) but it is superior to get a large bowl or something like that so you don't have to do as many water changes.
Good luck!
Answer:
I'd go with a 2 gallon mini-bow. Then you can put some fake flowers in on one side for her, and some other decorations for the fish.
Bettas don’t like vases, there's not enough surface area. They don't care for hexagonal tanks, either. They're not terribly strong swimmers, and having to go up and down and up and down exhausts and stresses them.
Answer:
a lot of flower shops sell the vases with the water, gravel, and flowers already assembled for around 20 dollars, you just add the fish, but you can easily make your own using a vase, a water Lilly, and gravel, dollar tree sells some vases great for making these
Answer:
You can put the betta in the vase. It would look nice, but it is not recommended. The betta won't die but won't be comfortable. The hexagon tank with a small heater would be better. You can add a small live plant instead of a flower. It would look nice too.
Answer:
yea go for it, get stuff that she ikes or a memory of her and you doing something. sometimes they get that flower hangup thing with the hook that you put outside to hang and it is a good present. I think it is about 10-15 dollars.
Answer:
If i were you i wouldn't put flowers in with my Betta. It could be harmful for the fish. Just go with the hexagon tank. It would be a lot safer. Just remember it's the thought that counts.
Answer:
i think putting it in a tank with floweres would be special for moms day, but when th eflower die, then go out and get a really cool tank
Answer:
i would get the hexagon shaped tank!
also put in some fake flowers and some pretty rocks and stuff!
Answer:
yea, thats a really good idea! but u should put the betta in a bowl with a plastic plant in it, not a real one.
Answer:
Buy a starter kit tank, they’re about $10.
