i found a black lab puppy when he was 3 weeks old,he was pooping and peeing all over the house, but i said to myself “he is little he doesn't know”,then i moved to my boyfriend's home, same story,at easter we went to my grandma[she has a backyard] and he never pooped indoors.we took him out and he poopd outside.i came back home and he pees everywere.is it because i changed his home so often?he’s 2 month now,and when i take him outside he pees, but when we come upstairs,he poops in the middle of the livingroom.i don't want to yell or hit him,i did that one time and i ended up crying when i saw his scared face.i dont know what to do so that he comprehend that we go outside to make our need not only to play.and i've noticed that he poops most of the time near the tv,it's like his place there.what should i use to wash the carpet to take the smell out?and how should i teach him that he has the ability to pee and poop in the balcony?he only plays there.and how do i make him stop biteing like a maniac? :) tx

Answer:
First you need to purchase some enzyme, like “The Digester” to clean up the home so he has no remembrance of peeing in the house. He will always re-mark if you don’t clean up the house. The enzyme actually eats up the pee and poop which remains after you’ve done your best to clean it up. Dogs have great noses and can smell it when you can’t.

Then you need to stop the puppy from walking around your home. That means a crate. He is not going to like it. But it is ideal for you and for the puppy until you can change his habits. If he cries in the crate, you can cover it and if he makes noise, you can pound on the crate without saying anything and he’ll think it is the doggy god reacting to his bad behavior. DON’T state anything at all when you pound on the crate. The idea is for him not to know he has your attention. Remember this is with the crate covered.

You must take the puppy out to go potty often. As much as each 30 minutes if he has had water. Give him a particular area of the yard where he has the ability to take care of his business, keep it clean for him, and always take him to the same place in the yard. Water the area so to dilute the pee. You can clean it with bleach too.

It is important for you to control when he eats. Don’t just leave food out for him. Feed him and give him water in the morning AFTER you have taken him out and he has peed and pooped. Take him on a leash if you must and do not let him play. He’s out there to go potty. That’s all. Bring him in and give him water and food. Feed him twice a day and give him water at those times and then pick the water up after he has had an opportunity to drink. Of course give him water during the day too. But it is up to you to be prepared to take the puppy out to go potty regularly

This will get him on a serious schedule where he has the ability to learn what you expect and at the same time keep your home clean. Male dogs like to mark as they grow older and you don’t want him to use your home that way. So you must get a handle on it now. NO playing when you take him out to go potty. Continue to tell him why he’s out there. Don’t let him have the run of the house. If you want him to sit next to you then keep him on a leash so you can remember to take him out often to go potty!

Our dogs don’t eat if they don’t pee and poop before meal time. They have the ability to actually go to bed hungry or miss breakfast. Dogs like to walk between peeing and pooping. So be prepared to take him for a walk. This is how their digestion works ideal. They’re more prepared to poop after a walk. But remember to have a particular route for this exercise so he comprehends that he’s to go potty and remind him. Don’t let him play.

It seems hard, harsh but they’re like baby’s and need to be trained to comprehend and are far happier when they do know what you want and know what the schedule is. Less confusing for them and much nicer for you and as he gets older and learns what is right you’ll find yourself very proud of him because he’ll be a good boy. As he only wants to please you. It is up to you to instruct him.

No need to get mad at him if he pees and poops in the home because that is really your fault. Their just doing what comes natural. What do they know about inside or outside. They just know they have to go.

I’ve got a new puppy right now. She was born 2/22/08. She is in her crate right now. She’s learning that’s a safe place for her. She doesn’t pee or poop in her crate. No animal wants to live in their mess. But she has had a couple of accidents in the home which were my fault. I clean it up right away. They like their own pee and poop so sticking their nose in it does not make them understand what you want. A clean house and many trips out side will do that. The crate makes it easier for them to understand. Smaller area then the large home. Good Luck. I will be glad when I’ve this one trained like my other girls. They all sit and wait for a command to eat after I put their food down.

Answer:
first of all he is a puppy. he will need to go outside multiple times. You need to take the time to spend with him rewarding him for going outside & pay attention to him! his behavior will tell you he needs to go out.

Answer:
well train your puppy. You no i had the same kind of proberlem as you, so what i did is get anouther puppy and he just seems to halt peeing and poopy

Answer:
take him to puppy pre-school!

Answer:
when he does that dont scold him or stick is nose or face in it just softly but firmly say no and bad dog and take him outside. if he contantly does that after a few weeks consult a veterinarian swiftly.

Answer:
When he poops in the living room tell him “No, we do this outside”, then pick it up, make him follow you to take it to where you want him to poop and leave it there. You want him to go back to the right spot, smell it and think, “Oh, hey. That's a good idea. I'll offload here.” Don't forget to PRAISE when he goes outside! All he wants is to make you happy.

Afterward (or ideally, while you are outside with the pup have someone else) clean the spot where he went on the carpet with a good cleaner. I like Bissell Pet Soil and Odor, but there are other good ones, too. When you think you've got it all, clean one more time. A dog's nose is astounding.

As for the biting, get on the floor and play with him. When he gets mouthy, put your hand on his muzzle to hold his mouth shut and offer a correction. When you catch him starting to put his teeth on you and stopping himself, PRAISE! Many people state to use one word commands. I talk to my dogs, and over time they do learn. (No, teeth don't go on people. Let's go outside. Do you want dinner? Get the ball.)

Good luck! Puppies are so cute….when they’re asleep.

I’ve worked at the Humane Society for 3 years as an adoption counselor and the best way to potty train is to crate train. The crate should only be massive enough for the dog to comfortably lay down and turn around, any bigger and the puppy/dog may pee or poop in the corner of the crate and stay on the other side of the crate (a dog will not poop or pee [for the most part] where they are sleeping or laying) You need to monitor what your puppy or dog is eating and drinking, so don't let he/she eat and drink whenever he or she pleases. Feed the puppy/dog on a schedule that’s going to be pretty consistent and once you’ve fed him/her bring her/him outside immediately and take him/her to a spot on leash that you are going to make their “potty spot” bring him/her to this spot every time so that he/she knows he/she is suposed to be going potty. If he/she does not go after a few minutes put him/her in the crate for about 5-10 minutes (if he/she starts whinning let out agin to the same spot he/she may have to go to the bathroom) but whenever you are trying to get them to go potty never play with them or pay much attention to him/her. He/she needs to learn this isn’t play time this is potty time. Once he/she goes potty you want to praise him/her a lot and give him.her treats if you’ve any (recommended). Once he/she has pooped and peed outside they might stay out of the crate. If they have only peed and not pooped or vise versa he/she needs to go back in the crate and let out each 15 minutes or so until he/she has gone both. Letting him/her stay out of the crate instructs him/her that you want them to go to the lavatory outside and once they have they have the ability to stay out and play! Have fun and good luck, carte training if done consistantly usually takes a month or so my fosters only took a few weeks and my puppy took 3 months so be patient it's all worth it in the end!

hey any dog when they move home do mark it lol! its not nice but they do..my lil one was good she stopped weeing and pooin in th house from around 12 week old and now can be left for 3 hours and still wait to go out side she 7 months now tho!

why not get some puppy pads/newpaper have that there let her wee on it or show her where it is and then she shud hpfully wee on that then take that out side with u and let her start weeing on tha out side giving her a treat everytime..and a lot of fuss..then hopfully she wil get he hang of it. hope it works for u x

Answer:
put down the pads or newspapers, make sure you puppy proof the room or area, and if the goal is to get them to go outside work towards that Keep a eye on the pup, most of the puppies that I’ve potty trained give of physical indicators prior to starting to potty, watch and know these physical indicators and prior to them doing their duty. When you recognize the physical indicator just take them where you want them to go and when they do the right thing give them praise .Being proactive will make the process move faster and easier. Good luck and enjoy your pup.

Answer:
Well puppies teeth a lot so they need things to chew on. If he has toys to chew on and still does it to you, cry out like a dog in pain would and ignore him.

He'll comprehend after a while.

Since he's a puppy he has to go out a LOT I can't remember how often, but if he's being left inside for an hour or longer without a potty break that could be why.

Even though the constant moving could be stressing him or he could be sick. I envision it's just that he's young and can't hold it for long.

Crate training would help if he's not already in one at night.

Answer:
u should start teaching him manners now before its too late.

put some newspaper where u want him to pee and poop. Purchase these things that are some type of liquid that smells like pee(it doesnt smell too humans) or something similar. and put i on the newspaper.

next time he pees somewhere unappropriate show him the newspaper and tell him”u hav to pee here and make him look and smell it. do it every time he pees. if u get him when he is just about to pee, drag him to the newspaper corner.

Eventually he’ll learn!!

Good Luck!!!

Answer:
Hi

Yes the carpet needs to be cleaned. As long as he has the ability to smell the spot you will probably have issues.

You will likely have superior luck starting with the basics, and crate training. Also, do not leave him unattended for a minute. Have him stay with you and use a leash if necessary. If you catch him making a mistake, no yelling or hitting. A simple no, and take him outside immediately. Praise him for correct behavior.

Best of luck.

Answer:
The PUPPY is only 3 months old, you can not expect him to be housetrained already. That is like expecting a child under a year old to know s/he has to go potty on the toilet. This has nothing to do with him being in different environments. Just keep up with taking him out to go potty, get on a schedule. He needs to go out at lesat once every 2 hours until he is housebroken. About 45 minutes to an hour after every meal take him out. Stay outside for 15 minutes, if he doesn't go bring him back in, and put him in a small, enclosed area. Take him back outsdie 15-20 minutes later, repeat until he goes. Crate training is very helpful in housetraining, you should invest in a crate. Never hit your dog, this will cause fear aggression, you don't want that. You also need to get some special cleaning products that’ll get the scent out of the carpet, such as Nature's Miracle. Make sure you praise as SOON as he goes outside. To get him to pee/poop “in the balcony” take some poo of his and put it out there. Take him out there when it's time to go potty. You can also sop up some of his urine and rub it around out there. Since you got him at such a young age, he didn't learn important things from his mom and littermates. Such as bite inhibition, and “doggy manners”. To instruct him to stop biting, yelp loudly when he bites and totally ignore him for a few minutes. He needs to realize that when he bites, playing stops. Also, you could try to just replace your hand, or whatever he's biting, with an appropriate toy. Tell him NO when he bites you, then give him something he’s allowed to chew on.

He's still very young, give him some time. Give the housetraining another month or two, and be CONSISTENT! This is the quickest way to instruct him.

Good Luck!
