there were 2 stray cats dropped off here at the apts about a year ago. this winter it snowed a lot so i provided some shelter and food for them outside on my patio. about 4 wks ago the mom brought me her kittens so now they’ve been in the house. well she’s still very attached to her kitten from her first litter. now that cat is pregnant. looks like she could go into labor anytime now. i had my door cracked for the momma cat to be able to go outside and when i came back both her and her pregnant kitten were feeding the new kittens. and continiues to do so and now she does not want to go back outside. i am in way over my head here what should i do
Answer:
if they’re strays they need to go to a shelter so they have the ability to be cared for properly. letting them into your home just opens your home up to diseases and infestations that you can pass off to other animals. these animals also need spayed so there is no inner breeding which causes birth defects. calling your local shelter is actually doing the cats a big favor. At least that way they’ll be spayed and have a chance of getting a proper home for their kittens.
Answer:
First off PLEASE get the mom cat spayed immediately! You can take her to the local humaine society and they’ve a program called s.n.i.p. were its only $30 pleaaaaaaaase do that for her!
Answer:
You might have to separate the cats that are nursing, and maybe should check for a SPCA in your area, they may be able to help you with advice. Check on line for SPCA
Answer:
It's totally fine. To the babies, milk is milk. If the moms are both allowing it, it's perfectly fine.
