My puppy is 10 weeks tomorrow, and is a girl, she keeps on trying to hump my other girl dog, my puppy is already more massive than my other dog will she still do this when she is older, also shall I keep them in different rooms for afew days because my older dog had a operation yesterday? No rude answers, thanks.

Answer:
I've got 2 cavaliers, one of each sex, my male used to hump the tiny girl (he did for some reason wait until she got huge enough!). I stopped it by telling him no. I take them both to training classes and the teachers used water sprays to cease barking, I tried this with the humping and it worked better than telling him off. He rarely does it now.

Answer:
I don't think its anything to worry about at 10 weeks old the puppy is just maybe getting those sort of feelings and is perhaps trying things out it will stop as it gets older. I have a collie and he’s almost 5 years and my husband took it on the field and another boy dog tried to hump him. We didn't worry it was http://wizdomsearch.com/Art/142019/577/W… a one off and that is what’s probably happening to your puppy
It is a dominant thing too.

Answer:
This is a dominance behaviour but does need to be stopped as it could end with the dogs fighting. You state the older dog has had an operation yesterdy so it is not fair on her. You need to stop the puppy humping the other dog . You could try when you she the puppy do it make a sharp loud noise to distract her.

Answer:
Your puppy is showing dominance. Stop her from humping. It's very bad dog manners and if she tries it on with a dominant dog there will be a dog fight.
There is no need to separate the dogs, just teach your puppy some manners. When she starts to hump tell her Ah Ah in a stern voice and remove her from the smaller dog. Do this each time she tries it on.

I don't grant my dogs to hump eachother or anything else. I have two huge breeds and two small breeds and no humping happens here.

Hi!

Let's start by saying that dogs give the term “public displays of affection” new meaning and aren't shy about it. Dogs are considered “man's ideal friend”, or shall we state “leg's ideal friend”. We all know that humiliating face redding feeling we’ve when you have house guest over and your dog takes a fancy to one of their legs. Even though this can be viewed as a form of flattery, this situation can get out of control very swiftly when your dog refuses to loosen his grip.

Thank you!

Answer:
It's usually a dominance issue. She should grow out of it once she’s spayed. You should definitely keep your older dog in a warm, quiet room away from stressful situations.
