i posted a question about pregnancy last night.
took a test this morning and it came up positive. (i took 2, same result)

assuming i am pregnant what do i need to do now.
aside from going to the physician obviously.
i have already talked to my boyfriend.

i know we are very young (im 18 and he’s 19) but we’re both very excited about this and we are 100% going to keep it :)

i just need to know these things

should i change my diet and what should i be eating and what should i not be eating or drinking

pre-natal vitamins? should i be taking those as well.

and are there certain activities that i can no longer do?
(i dont play sports thats an obvious answer but as far as excersising goes)

thank you for your time!

Answer:
Hey sweetie, congrats to you and your boyfriend. :)
I'm also pregnant, I'm only 19, and he's 18.
We're also keeping it, I can envision your excitement :)

To answer your question, yes you should be changing your diet, stay away from fish, raw meats, red meat. No alcohol, no caffeine.

Pre-natal vitamins are astounding, they’re packed with pretty much everything you need for your baby, I am taking Materna, by Centrum, they were recommended by the doctor.

Exercise is fine, until your body tells you stop, in the beginning months do what you do normally, when you start showing tone it down a bit, but honestly, if your body doesn't like something that you're doing, than stop.

Other than that, all I have the ability to say is good luck :)

If you got a positive test result, then you're definitely pregnant. False negatives are known to happen but not false positives. Congratulations!

You can pretty much continue to eat as you’ve been even though you should stay away from soft cheeses (such as Feta) and smooth bodied fish (like shark).

Just eat healthfully and be sure to drink lots of water.

You should take pre-natal vitamins. You can actually buy them in the supermarket and my doctor stated they're basically the same as prescription pre-natal vitamins.

You can do basically all the activities you've done before becoming pregnant. Just don't lift anything heavy enough to cause you to strain yourself. Also, don't do any exercising that focus on your stomach muscles (like sit-ups). Don't overdo yourself, do what feels comfortable.

Ideal of luck!

Congrats! Until your first appointment take things simple. Try to to begin prenatal pills those are very helpful. Eating and drinking wise, obviously no alcohol, but really for now just cut down on caffeine and no sushi! Activity wise just dont lift anything real heavy and no belly crunches try not to crouch over try to sit up straight…I am only 17 and 5 months pregnant, but I do know a lot about pregnancy do's and dont's. You can also go to Google or Yahoo and type in pregnancy dos and dont's and that’s very very helpful that is what i used before my first apt. Good Luck!

Answer:
make sure you take a pre natal vitamin with folic acid or else your baby could possibly get spina bifida (a neural tube defect).

Answer:
Take the prenatal (if you have trouble swallowing them, you can take a chewable multivitamin + folic acid supplement, you can get them at any store that sells vitamins.)

You know the basics of what to not to do (smoke, drink, etc)

You're also not supposed to eat deli meats unless they’re cooked to steaming hot or hot dogs. (they can possibly carry listeria) and you don't want to eat any undercooked foods (soft boiled eggs, sunny side up eggs, rare meat). You want to avoid fish with possible high mercury levels, and soft cheese as well.

Make sure you wash all your fruits and veggies, and get enough protein to start building up your iron supply and get enough calcium so that the baby doesn't start taking it out of your bones.

You want to limit caffiene consumption, but don't feel guilty about the occasional cup of coffee, tea or soda.

Other then that make sure you keep your diet as balanced as possible - changing it or not kind of depends on how healthy you usually eat.
You should try to add about 300 calories more a day. This isn't really that much when it comes down to it.

You don't want to lift anything in excess of 25lbs, but other then that just listen to your body when exercising. Don't try to push yourself too much, just do what you're comfortable with. If you feel good running 10 miles do it, if you only feel good running 1, only do that one. If you don't feel like doing any of it, then that's okay too =)
