which make superior pets? also, which are more affectionate, and which ones would get along better with cats? thanks :) and, is there any way to reduce the smell of ferrets?

Answer:
Both ferrets and sugar gliders take a lot of time/money/patience. However when it comes to which one is harder. Sugar Gliders definately take the cake.

Sugar glider

-You have to spend many hours with it constantly for a few months for it to be bonded with you(usually takes atleast 3 months for one to get bonded with you)

–you should probably get a camping tent to bond with it in

–They will poop and pee on you

-They require VERY special care therefore vet treatment will be much more costly.

-They have a little funk to them

-They yell and scream and whatever all through the night

–Oh yeah they’re nocturnal, so you’ll have to be also.

-You'll have to make them a specific salad meal each day, cant just pour kibble in a bowl.

Ferrets

-You'll need to spend atleast 4 hours a day with them, or let them out for atleast 4 hours.

-You'll have to nip and litter train, while they wont be 100% outside of the cage, chances are if you train them well they’ll be 100% in it almost most of the time

-Prone to illiness very high-priced vet bills

–Normal vet bills are pricey also

-You'll need to ferret proof your home, or atleast the room you alow them to run around in.

-As long as you clena their littlerbox daily, wash their bedding weekly and scrub the cage monthly AND feed them good quality ferret or kitten food then they will not really smell.

I have no idea if sugar gliders are good with cats. I do know most ferrets are good with cats, but it really depends on the cat more :P

Answer:
Both Ferrets and Sugar Gliders are very high maintenance pets, so you should do a LOT of research before getting either one. Still, if you’re asking just in terms of being affectionate and getting along with cats, I could state ferrets too.

Ferrets will always have a natural smell, but if you keep their cages clean you will not notice it after a few days. I’ve seven ferrets and they NEVER smell bad. But what the previous posters said is wrong, you should NOT bathe a ferret unless it actually gets into something. Bathing will cause the skin to create more oils and will make them smell WORSE.

Answer:
Please research before getting either. Ferrets I know for a fact are high maintenance and costly creatures to take care of, but man do they show LOVE! You give them an ounce they give you back 100 gallons of love.

To reduce smell off errets: Have them fixed and their glands removed, clean the cage at least once a day, change litter daily, wash beddings every 2 weeks, give them dry baths if you so wish. Ferrets will ALWAYS have that musky odor, just like dogs will always have their doggy smell.

Ferrets are pricey, however. They need at least one other ferret with them, a large cage (in height, they need to climb up and down), LOTS OF BEDS, they sleep 18 hours a day, at LEAST 3-4 hours out of cage time, pricey ferret food, lot of toys, constant stimulus (meaning YOU have to play with them too, they an't just play with each other), etc.

Please research before getting any pet. =)

Answer:
Ferrets. Only because there’s a long bonding period with sugar gliders that you have to keep them with you. Also, they’re for the most part nocturnal. If you’re up to the challenge though, sugar gliders. But ferrets if you are not. Oh, and sugar gliders are fair game to a cat. A ferret can hold it's own.

Answer:
I’ve never had a sugar glider, but I know that they make a really annoying noise.

I’ve 2 ferrets, boys and three cats. They love each other. I would think that a sugar glider and a cat would not mix because they are so small (the sugar glider).

I use cat litter and put baking soda in it. It really reduces the smell. You must clean the box each day though or they will not want to use it. I also give my boys a bath once a month.

Get a ferret they are great.

Answer:
ferrets.

sugar gliders are very little and will (glide) away and if u ever get him outside hes gone.

give the ferrets baths get them non smellng bedding and clean them often.

ferrets deffenitly will get along superior with a cat if introduced gently.

Answer:
