I was told yesterday that the reason why I can not feel the baby move is cos there is to much water around the baby the doctor said the the baby isn’t drinking it so it is bilding up I am 38 weeks. the baby will have to be cheeked when it is born for any breathing problems. can any one to me more I should had asked more
Answer:
Apparently the baby practices breathing by breathing in amniotic fluid… “the fetus swallows amniotic fluid during much of the pregnancy. If it can't swallow amniotic fluid, you’ll develop a condition of excess amniotic fluid, called hydramnios or polyhydramnios.” From Your pregnancy week by week 4th addition page 227.
Now if you’re really concerned you can call your physician and ask for a better understanding of what is going on… I had a situation come up and I didnt fully understand what they had told me… so when I went back in two weeks I asked them to explain it to me in better detail… good luck and keep in mind that your doctor is there for you, you or your insurance is paying them!
Answer:
I agree with both, it sounds like you have not fully understood what the doctor was telling you and may need to go back to get further advise. Babies don’t drink the amniotic fluid and this may have been the confusion you’ve had speaking to the doc.
Answer:
um babies do swallow the amniotic fluid…but they pass it back through..the amount of amniotic fluid has nothing to do with how much the baby “drinks”
Answer:
This sounds ridiculous. Maybe you misunderstood your physician. That, or he/she is a quack.
Answer:
does have nothing to do with it i think you should ask your doctor
Answer:
First of all, babies do not drink. They eat and drink through the ambilical cord. I think you need to talk to the physician again. I don't think you understood what he was saying.
