Maybe one egg only had been fertilize.

Answer:
If the female is older than 11 months, the litter size will commonly be reduced, as it's rare for a female to stay fertile past that age.

It's possible, though a bit unlikely, that the male she bred with had a potency problem. (IE: Is unable to produce a lot of sperm.)

Is this her second or third litter? Most of the time the first litter will be the largest one for a female hamster. If her first litter was small (3-5 pups), then one would not be a very suprising outcome for litters #2 or 3. If this is her first litter, then perhaps she just occurred to have an unusually tiny litterm size.

Answer:
Your hamster probably had only one baby…Hmm..
Maybe it fell hard and all the other babies died and when they came out she ate them…
Maybe they came out deformed or dead for no reason and she ate them.
Maybe some are hidden under the bedding.
Hamsters shouldn't just have one baby.
Did you ever drop her during pregnancy, or bring her outside, was she ever sick. All this could have caused it. Please be aware of your hamster.

Answer:
Leave him alone cause he doesn't want anymore kids. Get a job.
