Why do acts lick people? Usually when they’re sleeping?

i have a cat and she sometimes comes to me at night when im sleeping and starts licking my neck, arm, and cheeks. i hate it. why do they do that? is there away to stop her from doing that???

its just showing how much he/she cares about ya or she wants food or drink or to go to the restroom if you wat him/her to halt tehm all i can state is push him/her away or close your bedroom door

She's testing to see if you're ready for eating yet…. I'm kidding, of course. She's returning the niceness–you take care of her, pet her, run your hands down her body, give her kisses, make her feel good, so she's just giving it back to you in one of the many ways cats have of showing affection, grooming. Cats groom each other (female cats tend to do more grooming of other then males do, I assume it's because mama cats are female). And, who knows, cats may be able to differentiate the chemistry of different people by tasting us. The only way to stop her from waking you up is to keep her from getting into your bedroom; of you could begin yelling at her and throwing water on her every time she does it but it'll probably make her neurotic and hateful and she might start peeing on your bed instead.

Aww that's adorable I don't know why you don't like it. Cat's express there cares about in many ways and one way is to groom the person or animal they love. If you don't want her to do that anymore I would advocate just shutting the door at night so she can't lick you. There's really no way you can stop this, she's just trying to love you. Good luck (:
