My cat is acting different? There has really been no change at my house the only change was about a month ago i stopped closing her up in 1 room while were gone and she now has free roam of the home (i shut her into my room when she was a kitten because she was so playful i was afraid she was try to play with my older dog and make him mad) She’s now 1 year old (turned 1 year March 31st) i adopted her from the shelter in August of 2007 she was about 3 months old when i adopted her and she was born at the shelter she’s inside at ALL times shes never been outside except transports in a carrier to the vet and home from the shelter. She is spayed. No change in eating or drinking. Here's how she is acting different. She stares at the ceilings constantly she has always been well behaved but lately has been getting on the entertainment center (she knows thats not allowed) she jumps on the back of the sofa and runs back and forth crazily! I cant figure out whats wrong with her!

Answer:
She's just adjusting to having the run of the home. She should calm down after a while. Although the term “spaz attack” haha is pretty accurate. Cats do spaz out once or twice a day, that's normal. As for the staring, my cat did this, and it took me forever to figure out that he was staring at the shadows on the walls!

Answer:
Dogs and cats both normally have tiny 'spaz' attacks during the day. I'm sure she's fine, probably just having a bit of a hyper fit. Cats are also very stubborn so she's probably going to keep jumping on the entertainment center so you might want to invest in a tiny spray bottle and when she gets up tell her no and give a little spray and eventually she’ll associate that with water and stop jumping up there

Answer:
maybe u should try letting her outside for a few minutes each day to hunt and climb, u know just doing what cats do

Answer:
She is just playing. Your cat is still young, and you can expect her to be like this for a few more years.

If you do not want her to climb on your entertainment centre, go towards here when she's on it and clap your hands loudly or shout to scare her off. If you are consistent with letting her know she's not allowed on there, she’ll stay away from it.

You have to be consistent with it though.

And with the staring, yes I know its weird. My cat sometimes stares so closely at the wall that her nose almost touches it. To this day, I still don't know what she's looking at.
