I took clomid for the first time last month, and I got my period today. I'm thinking that must mean that the clomid worked and made me ovulate about 2 weeks ago and that is why I'm getting my period now.. but then I started wondering, is it possible that I didn't ovulate, but the clomid is making me have my period anyway?
Answer:
Okay, aren't you charting your days and taking OPKs? I think that should be the minimum you do in order to keep track.
Clomid doesn't “make” you have your period, it helps you ovulate.
If you had your period, you didn't get pregnant this month on clomid. That's it. The only way to make sure you ovulated is to take the OPK's regularly. Also, if you still aren't certain, go to the doc for an ultrasound around the day you may ovulate. If you’re charting your days, they’ll be able to get pretty close to you ovulation date. You’ll go in for an ultrasound and they will tell you if your ovaries are producing eggs.
If you're on clomid, you should certainly be doing all these things, you have to keep track of these things or it's being a little cavalier, I think.
Good luck
