Having sex prior to ovulating?

From my chart I should ovulate on the 20th of this month. However, my husband is going to the rifle range(training) from the 19th-24th.

My question is, did anyone actually have intercourse prior to ovulating and still get pregnant? And, if so, how did you do it(sex every day prior, every other day, etc.)? I know sperm can live up to around 6 days so I know it's possible. I'm just wanting to hear actual success stories.

You can deffinatly get preggo before ovulation, up to 3 days, and the odds of it being a girl are higher.. they state because the girl sperm are faster and stronger.. so when the little boys give up the girls are still racing for the finish lol. My ovulation day was the 13th, and my daughter was conceived on the 10th. And your little boy has my brothers birthday.. happy late 1st birthday!

its actually better to have sex the day or so before ovulation because once you ovulate the egg will only survive for a mere hours. But, I agree I would go with him haha. If you expecting to ovulate on the 20th I would have sex every other day starting on the 15th and ending the 25th just to be safe =)

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant prior to ovulation. Female sperms can live up to 3 days looking for an egg. So if you're trying for a boy, this is not the time to do it (male sperm only live for a few hours, I can't remember exactly how long…)

And the more times you try, the more female sperm will remain for that ovulation day!

Your most fertile times are the week before your ovulate. If your ovulation is set for the 20th then your last day of your last period would be the 13th of this month. If so begin having intercourse from the 14th until the day he leaves at least once a day. Hold your hips up for 10-20 minutes. A great site I reccomend and use is babyhopes.com

Yes you can get pregnant. However, in science class like 500 years ago (lol… more like 10) our instructor told us that female sperm is the one that can last longer. Male sperm is faster, but female sperm can out live it. So if you’re looking for a girl then it is definitely possible you could have one.

You need to go with him! Take off work, whatever you need to do. My hubby works 7 days away from home every other week. We tried this theory out many times over 15 months and nothing! Not even when we did it the day before ovulation and he left the next day. Sorry it didn't work out that way for me!

its fine have sex the 17th and 18th and just so you know highter chance for a girl baby that soon. Don't worry about sex prior or anything I planned a baby girl by trying 3 days before I ovulated and she’s here and 7 now
