Can or does prolonged breakthrough bleeding on the pill cause anemia? I have had bleeding for over a month now and my doctor says I should wait it out another week and if not gone by then that he will switch me to a different brand of the pill.
I was just wondering if you constantly have breakthrough bleeding and for so long whether it can lead to anemia?
Answer:
Yes, it can. It happened to both my sister and me. My sister was so bad she needed a transfusion at one point.
Switching the pill helped me for awhile but eventually i had an endometrial ablation that did help me somewhat though I still get my period and I still take the pill to regulate it. But at least my periods are short, light and regular now.
